Visiting Los Angeles and not going to check out the Hollywood sign close up, was not something I could live with. There are several ways to watch it from a distance but getting a close up view is a little bit more work. I did some research beforehand and drove to Canyon Lake Drive where it is possible to park on the side of the road. From there we followed others to get a pretty good view of the sign. The walk and the beautiful panoramic views to get there were definitely rewarding.
From there we headed toward Griffith Park Observatory, which is located on the south facing slope of Mount Hollywood and not too far from the Hollywood sign. The observatory itself is pretty nice to look at but the views from there were particularly great. Nobody should pass this spot if visiting Los Angeles.
